If traipsing about wetlands doesn’t appeal to you, why not create your own frogging environment by attracting frogs to the garden? Identify the frogs that occur naturally in your area and look out for characteristics of their habitat that can be recreated in your garden, be it a pond, running water or dense vegetation.

Avoid creating a habitat too close to the bedrooms, as some species in the frog chorus can keep one up for hours (experienced by some of our members).

The availability of food sources are critical to attracting frogs to your garden. Using insecticides in your garden can diminish the number of frogs visiting the garden.

Don’t go out and collect frogs for the garden, as this is illegal in South Africa.
